Good news today, for ComEd customers!
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s office and CUB have secured $46.2 million in refunds for consumers, after ComEd agreed to a settlement. The refund is connected to legal disputes that go as far back as a ComEd rate-hike request in 2007.
The refunds will begin to show up on customer bills in November, Crain’s Chicago Business reports. While the refund amount will vary by customer, the Attorney General’s office estimates that the average amount will total $8.
“CUB is happy to report that the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) today ordered a $46 million refund for ComEd customers connected to two longtime issues before state regulators,” CUB Executive Director David Kolata said in a statement. “It’s been a long battle for consumer advocates, like Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s office and CUB, but after a legal fight that dates back seven years, we are glad that ComEd has agreed to refund customers $46 million. That money belongs back in consumer pockets.”
