Breaking: Good news, bad news for Illinois consumers

After a busy day at the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), ComEd customers received news that their rates are dropping by $66.5 million–but Ameren gas and electric customers got hit with a total of $150 million in rate hikes.

Read CUB’s statements on the ComEd and Ameren decisions.

In both cases we’re filing petitions for rehearing, which is like an appeal before the ICC. We want to reduce the Ameren rate hikes ($106 million for electric, $45 million for gas) as much as possible. And we believe ComEd should give its customers an even bigger rate cut.

We pay these bills too, so we’re all in this together.
