CHICAGO, Sept. 28, 2009—The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) will hold five news conferences across Illinois to release an “econometric” study showing that Ameren’s Illinois utilities are among the most inefficient in the nation. CUB will be joined by other consumer advocates to launch a “Stop Ameren” campaign to make deep cuts in the company’s proposed $226 million rate-hike.

Among the elected officials attending the news conferences will be state Rep. Bob Flider, state Rep. Naomi Jakobsson, state Rep. Michael Smith, state Rep. Jehan Gordon, and state Rep. Eddie Jackson, Sr.. Representatives from the Illinois Attorney General’s office and AARP Illinois will also speak.
