Yes, this is GOOD news out of Washington

Good news! The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) made headlines this week after unanimously rejecting a plan that would have given extra money to coal and nuclear plants and could have increased electricity costs by up to $11 billion a year.

Energy Secretary Rick Perry argued his plan would have strengthened the power grid. But FERC said Perry didn’t prove the policy was necessary or would lead to just and reasonable electricity rates.

Don’t expect the Administration to give up that easily. Now, while we have the momentum, urge the president to focus less on propping up aging power plants and more on promoting programs that lower bills and beef up the grid (energy efficiency, demand response, renewable energy).
